What is your business all about? What do you sell/do?
Palmgren Acupuncture helps people improve their health and feel good again. We specialize in pain management, weight loss, insomnia, and fertility. We offer acupuncture, Chinese herbs, therapeutic-grade essential oils, cupping, and guasha.
We spend a lot of time getting to know our patients in every session. We ask many questions and look for the cause of their health concern. We also customize everything: from the acupuncture treatment to the Chinese herbs we recommend. This allows our patients to experience results faster. We are the only clinic in the Oak Park area that has an on-site herbal dispensary of granular (powdered) Chinese herbs. This means that we can design and mix formulas that are customized for each patient.
We’re motivated by our passion to expose as many people as possible to acupuncture and its benefits. We are committed to the community and give back each month to local businesses and nonprofits through our Relieve Stress at Work Program. In addition, each year we hold an open house on National Acupuncture Day and provide ear acupuncture for pain relief and stress reduction.
Palmgren Acupuncture is owned by husband and wife, Nick Arestopoulos and Lynn Palmgren. Both of them are involved in the community and volunteer regularly.
How long have you been in business?
We opened our doors in September 2013.
Why did you decide to open in Oak Park?
While we were in acupuncture school, we would often come to Oak Park to visit friends, go out to eat, and see movies at the Lake Theatre. We found it to be a charming place with local shops and a real sense of community. When it came time to choose a location for our practice, we knew it was the right place for us. Since we opened, the community has been incredibly welcoming and supportive. We look forward to many more years here.
What would locals be surprised to hear about you or your business?
In our previous lives, Nick was an English teacher to young children in South Korea and is an avid martial artist and Lynn was an attorney who worked for the Attorney General’s Office and enjoys going to hip hop classes.
